Happy Leet Day

It might be a little sad, but apparently today is 1337 day, or "leet" day. That's right, the date today, written properly, is 13/3/7. I have to confess, I'm not quite sure what would be an appropriate way to celebrate.

u r teh h4x0r!!! h4ppy 1337 d4y!!
The most appropriate celebration to me would be to go down to your local computer retailer, and write a two line basic program on every display machine to display "The same machine is cheaper next door" in an endless loop, just like you used to do as a child.

That is what everybody did as a child, right?

It does lose some of its Leet value when you discover that while POKE 649,0 disabled the keyboard on Commodore 64s, it is unlikely to do the same to a PC.
Unfortunately, there won't be a 1337 day in America until January 3, 2037, because we format our dates m/d/y. Bummer.

Luke: As a kid, I remember spending most of my time trying to make my tape deck play tapes into my ZX Spectrum. Fun times!

Scott: Poor America. Actually, thinking about it ... we'll get another one over here around the same time - 1st March 2037.

enygma: Maybe this should be International Write Like a Hacker Day? :)
