I worked for Hewlett Packard telephone tech support (in Canada) and once had a customer holler at me because she claimed "my desktop did not come with a cd rom".

I asked her "how old is the machine", she replied "two days".

I asked her to look for a button on the front of the tower near the top, she said "Near the cup holder?"... I put her on hold until she hung up.

Classic. Those clients just love getting you to help them for free. Sometimes I forget that all tech companies are secretly charities and are free of financial obligations. Or did you slap a £100 fee on this :P

My favorite so far is - "I want to come up on page one of Google for every major town in Britain and i've got a £500 to spend." - I'm paraphrasing.

I worked with apple macs. A guy phoned one day and told me, quite seriously, that the guy at the computer store told him that he could upgrade his mac with an intel chip. You could. By plugging in a special card. This guy actually bought the processor. He called and informed me - "Right", he said, "I've got the soldering iron ready." "but there are more pings on the intel chip than on the board. What do I do?".

I put him on hold and then paged "Service, line 2" and burst out laughing, finally unable to restrain myself. 5 minutes later there was a raw of laughter upstairs.

Can you imagine it? Wonder how he got on?

Honestly, I did clean my keyboard using water once :). I left until it dries and then I used it again! It worked 100%

One of my friends, working a sysadmin, advised someone to clean his keyboard using the same old "soap and water"... he had no idea the things were about a notebook ;)
