Great post.
I am still looking for an answer about the way google checks backlinks in the webmaster tools, something like link:www.xxxxxxxxx.com
My website is very well indexed in google and shows many backlinks in the other search engines, but shows no backlinks in google. I have asked about this problem in many blogs and forums, but didn't get a real answer yet. Hope to get one here ;-)

Thats the common problem .

Using hidden texts,cloaking,Linking with porn or gambling sites ,Duplicate contents will lead to your site will be penalized with search Engines.

And You will feel the Drop in SERP.

my site used to be in the top 5 of google search results. i dunno what happened it cant be found in google search results for now. do you think its because i put a lot of keywords in my "alternate texts"?

Google is so temperamental these days. One of my sites suffered a year long penalty for something I am not sure of. It may have been because of dodgy reciprocal links. It would be nice if they gave you hints as to what they don’t like about your site.

That's kind of true, but not entirely. What you've actually done is add a whole load of hidden text (generated by software rather than person by the looks of it) to a page which the user is then redirected onwards from. The redirection uses Flash.

Add some actual content on the front page, and link through the flash pages by all means, but don't be surprised when you use hidden text that the search engines dislike it.

We are an all Flash gaming site so we index an html page with our game related info. We had seen where Google aproved of using html indexing forwarding to the Flash site whihc they cant index, and have been in the top ten for several years for free online multiplayer games. As of today we are gone from all Google searches - except for Cosmic Encoutner itself. We add new featres all the time and arounf 1500 new users come per day. Any thoughts?

JD, what advice would you give someone who's battling it out with this "supplemental club" situation? google seems to have dumped many sites that were once considered authorities... is there anything you can think of that can be done?

this drop in the search engines unfortunately happened to one of my sites. not a funny thing. all that traffic gone! Thanks for tips anyways man - i ' banking on that the site might have been in the sandbox. See what happens in the next few months
